Calling all Queens. Report to this post with your crowns on tight! Anything that involves uplifting a fellow Queen, I am all for it. I mean aside from the fact that my IG profile pic has said QUEEN for the past year and a half now, I am a firm believer that you teach people how to treat you, and I know my worth and so I act accordingly. I remember I had a former employer ask me with sarcasm, “Why do you refer to yourself as a Queen?” And I had to kindly remind him about my history and where my ancestral line derived, and to say the least, he never questioned me again about why I felt the way I feel about myself.
With that said, you can almost sense my excitement when I came across this site QueenThing, a site designed welcoming all women regardless of your life experiences to embrace one another. How dope is that? In a world nowadays where we are constantly pitted against one another be it because of our shade of brown, our grade of hair, or by authenticity of your ass, it’s refreshing to see more and more platforms advocating for support, and togetherness, and a sisterhood.
The website’s founder Jessica Nefertiti, my fellow empress, yogi, & writer created this site as a way to be able to have conversations about lifestyle and art. Now the QUEENDOM Project is an extension of the site, it’s role is to help with the representation of the faces in humanity offering women to use this platform to express their views on sexuality, spirituality, and womanhood. I was so thrilled that I could partake in something that empowers and uplifts my fellow sister.
Check out my feature here, and if you know anyone or if you yourself would like to partake in the QUEENDOM Project, don’t be shy, hit Jess up on her Instagram. And don’t forget, it’s a Queen thing! Boom!
